Portable crusher

Wheels, Tracks & Rollers

Mobile processing plant for crushing rock and concrete directly on-site, reducing transport costs.

What is a Portable Crusher?

A portable crusher, often track-mounted or wheeled, is a self-contained machine designed to break down large rocks, ore, concrete, or other aggregate materials into smaller, more manageable sizes. Its mobility allows it to be easily moved around or between job sites, making it ideal for quarries, demolition sites, and recycling operations across New Zealand.

Key features of a Portable Crusher

  • Mobility: Mounted on tracks or wheels, enabling easy transport and repositioning on site without extensive setup.
  • Crushing Mechanism: Can utilise various crusher types, including Jaw crushers (for primary crushing), Cone crushers (secondary/tertiary), or Impact crushers (for softer rock or recycling).
  • Integrated Systems: Often includes feeders (like vibrating grizzlies) to regulate material flow into the crusher and conveyors to discharge the crushed product.
  • Power Source: Typically powered by an onboard diesel engine or electric motor (requiring an external power source).
  • Versatility: Suitable for processing a wide range of materials in various applications, from producing aggregates to recycling construction debris.

Portable Crusher Considerations

These factors are important to consider when operating Portable Crushers:

  • Material Type & Size: Choose a crusher type (Jaw, Cone, Impact) suitable for the feed material's hardness, abrasiveness, and initial size.
  • Desired Output Size & Rate: Determine the required final product size (gradation) and the target production volume (tonnes per hour).
  • Mobility Needs: Assess how frequently the crusher needs to be moved; track-mounted offers greater on-site mobility, while wheeled might be better for frequent road transport.
  • Ancillary Equipment: Consider the need for screening plants (portable or static) to sort the crushed material into different sizes.
  • Environmental Regulations: Be aware of dust suppression and noise control requirements relevant to the operating location.
